Dancin' Mates opened for classes on the Central Coast of NSW on the 12th of July, 1994, but the seed for this school sprouted some years before in Vienna, Austria.

Being the cultural center of Europe, Vienna brought together two artists from opposite ends of the world to nurture a love for dancing and the performing arts. With an extensive background in Musical Theatre, Robert Russell IV found many beliefs similar to those of Bronwyn Carey, whose background emphasized Classical Ballet. Each recognized the importance of the two, and how they combined to create a well-rounded artist and person. As these two artists shared these beliefs and past experiences, they created new ones together and planted the seed of Dancin' Mates.

Dancin' Mates began as a Dance Workshop Circuit, bringing dance workshops and master classes to dancing schools wanting to expand their cultural awareness of dance and the performing arts. This circuit took Bronwyn & Robert to many different schools throughout Austria, the USA, and England, whilst still performing professionally throughout Europe. Some of their combined credits include Cats, Phantom of the Opera, the Australian Ballet, La Cage Aux Folles, West Side Story, and the Vienna Festival Ballet.

After their marriage, talk of raising a family brought Bronwyn & Robert to Australia, and the school was born. Dancin' Mates now has well over 200 students, and they have their own fully-equipped studios, creating a wonderfully professional atmosphere in which to share this love of performing.

Dancin' Mates offers a Dance Team, which consists of those more serious students who want extensive performing experience and know-how. This Dance Team performs many times locally throughout the year, supporting the community's many different fundraising fetes.

Bronwyn & Robert still teach workshops & master classes here in Australia, and show up at the occasional Eisteddfod as adjudicators. The long term goals for Dancin' Mates are a full-time school for aspiring professionals and a professional company offering the performing arts to regions of Australia with little access to the arts.
